What to ask a mobile RV tech before you book

A short call before booking saves a wasted trip fee. These six questions cover what most RV owners need to know.

Do you come to my location, and is there a trip fee?

Mobile techs usually charge for travel on top of their labor. Ask for the trip fee and the hourly rate up front. Some techs, such as Cherokee Farms RV Center in Foley, post their mobile fee on their website.

Do you cover my address?

Many techs only travel within certain counties. Give your exact location, especially if you are at a campground or storage lot.

Do you work on my kind of RV and this system?

Name your RV type (motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel) and the system that failed, like the AC, fridge or slide-out.

Are your techs certified?

Look for RVTI certification for repair techs or NRVIA certification for inspectors. Our listings show a certification only when the business states it.

Can you bill my warranty or insurance?

Some techs work with extended warranty and insurance companies. Ask before the visit so the paperwork is ready.

How soon can you come, and do you take emergency calls?

Ask about the next opening and whether they take after-hours or weekend calls. Few techs offer 24/7 service.
